Carol Gano - New Year

Get into it and enjoy the festive season. We celebrate Xmas all through January – even when the ‘Christ’ sentiment dissipates after the annual religious church migration.

New Year’s night is cracker, drinks, fireworks, going to bed early to wake the world from Australia as we herald in the flip to a new calendar.

New Years. New aspirations. New resolutions though – does anyone live up to their self-made annual promises? Declarations that,

‘I’ll get my library books back on time’ ‘I’ll lose 10kg’, ‘I’ll cut back on the alcohol’, or ‘I’ll finish my old, forgotten sewing / writing / or photography projects’.

New Year.

New You, New Me, only are we ever reborn, ever renewed, ever an improved version of ourselves?

Maybe we are always a strand of 12 potential selfs and we pick and pull and develop a focus to sustain. Our best self may emerge this New Year.

Here’s Hoping! Cheers to the New You and the New Year.
