Beloved Palm - Michael Collins

Beloved palm sits in the shade... Like me...

It does not seem to like to see the sun... Again... Like me...

And though my Beloved is somewhat 'yellow'

He is... mostly ... a jolly fellow... Like me...

Still... Sometimes I ask myself... What the fig have I done?

Should I... perhaps... give BP a tad more light?

Well... I do believe that I just may...

Still... to empower my Beloved Palm in such a fashion...

may have certain undesirable consequences...

He could... In a rush of sap... See the possible immediate benefits...

and up and go... Like a Palm Out Of Hell... So to speak....

It would be a 'frond farewell'... I do not think that I am ready for this...

I have been left before... And by far more attractive palms...

So... It might not be that bad...

Still... Beloved Palm could easily feel resentment...

After being kept in the dark... all these years...

I may even be sued for neglect... Just like the other palms did when they left...

The settlement was not pretty... Years later I am still recovering...

The truth of the matter... is that my BP is... well... mine... To treat how I want...

If I keep it in the shade... then so be it...

If I forget to provide adequate water... then so be it...

If I use recycled kitty litter as a growing medium...

instead of actual soil... then what is a palm to be complaining... anyway...?

Ok... Alright... Beloved Palm... You can go... He is wilting now... I think he wants to leave...

All that 'happy face' act... was just that... An act... A When-Harry-Met-Sally extended moment...

Such is life... I shall buy a goldfish...

A fish would be just mighty fine... And a fishing line... i will buy a fishing line, too...

Have a bit-o-fun... Tease the little blighter... Put a plastic shark in the bowl... as well...

That would work... Still... I should miss my Beloved Palm... Even if the intimacy ...

was never really there... Not even at the start... come to think of it...
