She saw him standing with a dowdy looking woman. She had long brown hair, was short and overweight, in the worst clothes anyone could wear.

What's wrong with him, Sandra thought to herself. He's fit, tanned, medium height and has a lovely kind smile. Who is that woman? His sister, friend, surely not his wife.

He kissed the woman on the mouth, as a parting gesture, so surely not his mother, sister or just a friend. Sandra was determined to find out more. She loved mysteries and now since that rotten Aiden left her, the weak, inadequate, scumbag, she decided it's time to step up.

Aiden was taller and thinner with very little muscle, but she dressed him up and he could look pretty good, she congratulated herself. But he was always helping people. Didn't he realise that she needed his help all the time.

‘If he really loved me he wouldn't have time to help old Bob next door to park his car, he wouldn't have time to help his sister with their old dad and he certainly wouldn't have time to walk his damn dog. I should have been all he needed. I needed him to need me,’ she contemplated.

She shook her head out of her reverie. ‘Well now it's time for ‘me’ time,’ she thought. ‘Right!’, with that she swayed over to the man she had been eyeing. He smiled kindly as she approached.

She looked coy, ‘Oh excuse me. Do you work at the solicitors downtown?’

He looked surprised. ‘Me? Oh no’, with a chuckle, ‘I'm a builder.’

‘Oh’, she said with mock surprise. ‘You look so much like a solicitor’.

After a few hours of Sandra complimenting him on virtually everything he, said she found out he was married to the dowdy woman, he loved her very much, ‘Oh yuck, vomit’, she thought to herself and they have two boys, ‘Bugger, harder than I was thinking’.

‘Oh well,’ she thought, ‘he seems well off, he's nice and we get on fabulously well’.

He thought, ‘she's friendly, but a bit over the top, but she's good looking. Carrie is looking a bit drab lately I wonder if I could get her to dress up a bit.’

Anyway, months went by and Sandra kept bumping into him, in the cafe near his job site. Each time she was effervescent and attractive. Tom started to enjoy bumping into her and took pride in the fact that the blokes on the site thought she was his ‘bit on the side’. It was padding his ego.

Sandra mentioned a few times how his wife didn't dress well and after a few more times he started to laugh with her about it.

He left Carrie and moved in with the bright and funny and very affectionate and attractive Sandra. It was ideal.

After a few months of not seeing his mates, not going anywhere without her, but having loads of sex, but not having any freedom, he tried to leave her.

But the claws were well planted into his skin…
