Will it ever stop? The Mexican Volcano Rabbits scurried into their burrows. It was torrential and it wasn’t meant to be. Their floating volcano drifted around the Caribbean ever since it was spat off the main continent due to its over effusive gurgling, belching and smoking. The volcano itself felt slightly rejected and if it hadn’t been for the Mexican Volcano Rabbits, forthwith known as MVR’s, it would have finally blown its top and made North America feel its wrath.
But the MVR’s were gorgeous little critters, the smallest rabbits in the world, who enjoy the warmth of the ground on the slopes of the volcano. So, both the volcano and the MVR’s live in mutual symbiosis.

One thing none of them are used to is the constant rain. Mexico isn’t a rainy place and since they floated off they seem to be perpetually pelted with rain. Some days its light, others its torrential, but it’s now almost always there.
The rabbits have started to consider making themselves raincoats. Their little paws have been searching for something that might work. But whenever they go beyond their warm volcanic burrow, they get wet.
They look out at the dark grey, almost green clouds, that seem to hang directly over their floating volcanic island home. They aren’t used to this. Their fur isn’t used to it. They decide it’s because the volcano is sad. It does feel rejected so they must cheer it up. They organise an extra-ordinary meeting. It goes for hours as they debate the reasons for the clouds, rain and volcano’s depression. They decide a sacrifice is required. They know what it has to be. Who it has to be!
They plan the next day, to get their man. No matter what the weather.
After a few days they have dragged their man to the edge of the volcano.
Prime Minister MVR gives a stirring speech. They tell the volcano that they understand how it feels but want it to enjoy its new ability to travel the oceans, so they are throwing in the man who rejected the volcano and them from Mexico.
The volcano cheers up and accepts the cold, hard body of the corrupt Mexican President who sent them into the ocean.
His cold, hard, bronze body slides down the crater into the bubbling lava and melts.
The volcano brightens, the clouds lift, and the sky is blue. The rain has gone.
