Following the polar cap melt, although the ocean temperature took a plunge resulting the restoration of reefs around the world, new dilemmas became as challenging! New dangers presented for ships and boats. Previously costal day lands were submerged and shorelines were permanently altered. Unless ports had prepared by creating flotillas, the new docks that were hastily constructed only to be destroyed during the tropical storms which raged more frequently. Foresight of local geographers mass produced water line markers nicknamed, ‘Shin pads for Stalks’ by harbourmasters round the planet. Reflective and adjustable, these useful markers assisted tugboat pilots and ship captains alike in manoeuvring the changed water depths of harbours, ports and their shores. Whimsical and bright, these reflective neon markers were used in many new ways. Children, especially are attracted to their patterns and intense colours. Loosened, drifting and washed ashore to beaches, kids incorporated into high end real estate waterfront forts.
